Startup entrepreneur at heart. Crossed the startup - government chasm! Now with the Indian Govt, building technology centric e-governance platforms. Working as the Architect for Digital Locker & OpenForge - two egovernance projects under Digital India at National eGov Division, Ministry of IT. Digital Locker, a key component of #IndiaStack, aims to build a national ecosystem for paperless governance by digitizing citizen records & enabling digital usage of these records. OpenForge is the govt's open source initiative aiming to build a national source code sharing platform for collaborative development of egov applications. As Cofounder of SlideShare, I've had the opportunity to build & scale a global scale internet company. SlideShare is like "The Wikipedia for Professionals" - it's mission is to empower the world's professionals through knowledge centric content. SlideShare was acquired by LinkedIn in 2012. I'm passionate about startups & speak at tech conferences. I volunteer to mentor startups at industry bodies like iSpirt, TiE, Nasscom. My motto in general is to share away whatever I've learnt. For someone who founded a company with the word share in its name, I'm a big believer in the sharing credo “ the more you share, the more it helps others, the ecosystem grows & some of that karma flows back to you.Also involved in startups as angel investor/advisor. I was an early instigator on the Indian startup scene. Played a lead role in starting the cult of technology ˜unconferences called BarCamps by organizing India & Asia™s first such event in Delhi in Mar'06. BarCamps became very popular, with dozens of such events getting organized across India. They were regarded as a rallying force in stimulating grassroots level tech entrepreneurship in India. I wrote Webyantra (www.webyantra.net), previously one of the most widely read Indian tech blogs. Earlier I had a career in consumer goods sales & marketing having worked with PepsiCo, Asian Paints & Godrej.
