Gaurav Bhalotia has nearly 15 years of experience architecting, implementing and leading development of large-scale distributed systems, machine learning and information retrieval algorithms.He was Vice President of Engineering at Flipkart,where he managed and bootstrapped multiple platforms and contributed to building a strong technology ORG out of India.He was director of Engineering at Kosmix (later WalmartLabs), where he led multidisciplinary engineering and product teams to build a local search engine and also created the first version of their categorization engine.He was then managing the India operations for Retrevo,a US based search engine. He is currently an independent consultant and advisor with a number of early stage startups.Gaurav is a graduate of Indian Institute of Technology Mumbai and has a MS in Computer Science from University of California Berkeley.He has filed multiple patents and has several conference publications in Search,Categorization and Information Extraction.
